CAGED CAT / LEGAL
Privacy
What Caged Cat Comedy collects when you buy tickets, who processes it, how long we keep it and how to ask for a copy or deletion. For questions about an existing order, email hello@cagedcatcomedy.com.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Caged Cat Comedy (“Caged Cat”, “we”, “us”), Austin, Texas, USA, collects and uses information when you visit this website or buy tickets to our shows. It applies to this site only, not to the venues, to Stripe’s payment page, or to other websites we link to. Our Terms of Service cover the purchase itself.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
2. What we collect
When you buy or reserve tickets. Your name, your email address, the show and date, the tickets you chose, any discount code you used, the amounts (ticket price, service fee, sales tax, total) and the order status. For paid orders we also receive from Stripe a payment reference and the amount paid; we never see or store your card number, expiration date or security code. If a show offers free tickets, we count how many a given email address has reserved so we can apply the per-person limit.
When you use your tickets. Each ticket has a unique code. When it is scanned at the door we record the time it was checked in.
When you ask us to resend tickets or enter a discount code. To limit abuse we store, for a short time, a one-way keyed hash of your email address and of your network (IP) address, with a timestamp. We cannot recover the email or IP address from the hash. These records are deleted after 7 days.
Automatically, on every request. Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) logs the pages requested, the time, your IP address, browser type (“user agent”) and referring page. We use these logs only to keep the site running, measure load and investigate errors or abuse. Our own application logs contain order and ticket identifiers, not names, emails or card details. We also count checkout and sign-in attempts per IP address in memory, for a few minutes, to slow down automated traffic.
Anti-bot check. On checkout, ticket resending and the team sign-in we use Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile collects information about your browser and your IP address to tell humans from bots; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We send Cloudflare only the challenge token and your IP address to verify the result.
When you contact us. Whatever you include in your email, and your email address, so we can answer.
We do not collect your postal address, phone number, date of birth or government ID, and we do not ask you to create a password. Age restrictions are checked at the door, not online.
3. How we use it
- To issue your tickets and let you see or print them on your order page.
- To email you the confirmation with your QR codes, a copy if you ask for one, and notices about your order (refund, cancellation or rescheduling of the show).
- To check tickets at the door and prevent the same code from being used twice.
- To apply per-order and per-person limits, honor coupon rules and detect fraud, bots, scalping and other abuse.
- To process refunds and respond to payment disputes.
- To keep accounting and sales-tax records required by law.
- To operate, secure and improve the site, and to answer your questions.
We do not send marketing email from this site. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles. If this changes we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
4. Who processes it on our behalf
We use the following service providers. Each one processes personal information only to provide its service to us, under its own terms and privacy policy, and all of them store data in the United States.
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing. Stripe collects your card details directly on its hosted checkout page and is an independent controller of that data. We send Stripe your email address and the order reference so your receipt and our records match.
- Resend, Inc. — transactional email. Receives your name, email address and the content of the ticket, resend and refund emails, including the QR codes.
- Supabase, Inc. — database and file storage. Hosts our order, ticket and show data and the images we upload for shows.
- Vercel, Inc. — web hosting and request logs, as described above.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — Turnstile anti-bot check, as described above.
Venues and performers do not receive your name or email address from us. We may share your information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or safety or those of others, or with a successor if our business is sold or merged.
6. How long we keep it
- Orders, tickets and payment references: for as long as we must keep sales and tax records under Texas and federal law, currently at least 4 years after the show, and then deleted or anonymized. Unpaid reservations are marked expired and kept with the order history for the same period.
- Resend and discount-code attempt records (hashed email and IP): 7 days.
- Hosting request logs: kept by Vercel for a short period according to its retention settings, currently up to 30 days.
- Emails we exchange with you: for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable time afterwards.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it (for example a misspelled name or email address on an order), or to delete it. Email hello@cagedcatcomedy.com from the address on your order, or tell us the order number. We answer within 45 days. We may keep what the law requires us to keep (for instance the record of a sale) and information needed to prevent fraud; where we cannot delete something, we will tell you why.
If you are a Texas resident, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act may give you rights to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of your personal data, to opt out of its sale, targeted advertising and certain profiling, and to appeal our decision. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising. To appeal a decision, reply to our answer and write “appeal” in the subject; if we still decline, you may contact the Texas Attorney General. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you similar rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. These laws apply to businesses above certain size thresholds; whether or not they apply to us, we honor the requests described in this section for everyone.
We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals because we do not track visitors or sell data. If that changes, this section will say how we treat those signals.
8. Children
Our shows are for adults and this site is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 to place an order. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
9. Security
All traffic to this site is encrypted (HTTPS). Card payments happen on Stripe’s PCI-compliant page, not on our servers. Your order page is reachable only through a link containing a signed token; each QR code is signed so that forged codes are rejected at the door. The team dashboard requires a password-protected sign-in and is isolated from the public site. We keep access to production data limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Where the data lives
We are based in Texas and our providers store data in the United States. If you visit from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your country.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we start collecting new kinds of information or add analytics or advertising tools, we will update the relevant sections before the change takes effect and, where required, ask for your consent.
